Old Wall Cottage Nursing Home

Set in almost 2 acres of landscaped grounds in the beautiful Mole Valley district between Dorking and Reigate in Surrey, Old Wall Cottage has been newly refurbished and provides a high quality service for those suffering from dementia and related conditions.

The home has been re-configured to provide accommodation predominantly on one floor, and the recent refurbishment programme has included an enclosed, secure garden for all to enjoy.

Quality Care in an Intimate Setting - From the moment you arrive at Old Wall Cottage you will receive a warm welcome, from both staff and management alike.  The friendly and well-managed environment provides an ideal setting in which we are able to respond to the needs of each resident as an individual, with courtesy and dignity at all times.

Unlike many larger Nursing Homes, Old Wall Cottage offers a truly intimate and homely atmosphere, in keeping with its quiet, semi-rural setting away from traffic noise and the hustle and bustle of a typical, urban location.

Our smaller size also allows us to offer a more individualised level of care, with significant resident and staff interaction through high staffing ratios and an extensive range of group and dedicated one-on-one activities.

Brenna Russell, our qualified Activities Co-ordinator and a full time member of the care team, oversees a daily programme of activities, events and personal contact, offering many benefits including sensory stimulation and an ongoing sense of purpose; so important to residents with dementia and related conditions.

It’s Your Home - We also pride ourselves on making every resident - and importantly their friends and families - feel as comfortable as possible and a large part of this is achieved by creating an environment that feels like “home”.   From the cottage style setting of the building and grounds, to the open door visiting policy so that relatives can continue to see one another as often as they wish, there is certainly no hint of the “institutional” at Old Wall Cottage.

In addition, and in keeping with our philosophy of openness and transparency, we hold informal, monthly residents and relatives meetings to discuss the goings on at the nursing home; anything from future refurbishment plans, new (or old) policies, forthcoming entertainers and events, menu choices or even the colour of the curtains.

Peace of Mind - For additional peace of mind, Old Wall Cottage also benefits from dedicated weekly visits by Dr Robin Gupta GP of Brockwood Medical Practice.  This service not only provides peace of mind to residents and their families, but also offers an additional expert resource for our senior nursing team to draw upon.

Dr. Gupta, with interest in elderly and mental health care, also provides six-monthly drug reviews for each of our residents as a formal part of his consultative programme.

Don’t Take Our Word For It - When all is said and done, the only way to fully appreciate the unique approach we take to caring is to pay us a visit.  For this reason, we actively encourage relatives to spend time with us and also offer dedicated respite and trial packages for your convenience.

For example, if you would like to join us for lunch or perhaps would like to speak with another resident’s family member, we will be happy to arrange this for you and would also encourage you to read some of the testimonial letters we have received, a small selection of which can be viewed here.

Our overall aim at Old Wall Cottage is to provide the very best levels of care in the county, for both residents and their families alike.
