Holmwood House Care Centre Wins Prestigious Norfolk Care Award

Many congratulations go to Activities Co-ordinator, Angela Rankin, who, on behalf of Holmwood House Care Centre, won the "Bringing People Together Through Activities" category in the 2014 Norfolk Care Awards, held at Dunston Town Hall on Thursday 13th February 2014.

Angela collected the award at a spectacular The Gala dinner, hosted by actress Helen Lederer. The event was a true celebration of care across Norfolk, with 9 awards in total being presented, including the Brining People Together award, won by Angela and Holmwood House.

Before the event, Helen Lederer said,“I am absolutely delighted to be the host for the Norfolk Care Awards. I know how critical the provision of quality care is and how important care workers are. People who work in care are often the unsung heroes; tonight we are going to change that.”

The Bringing People Together category was awarded for the excellent work Angela and her colleagues undertake in providing a fun and rewarding schedule of activities within and outside of the care centre.  You can see an example of just how much is taking place within the centre by reading the activities schedules we publish on our website each month.

Bernard Freeman, CEO of European Healthcare Group PLC commented:

"At the inaugural Norfolk Care Awards 2014 held at Dunston Hall near Norwich last night, Holmwood House Care Centre was adjudged the winner of the Bringing People Together Through Activities category.

These awards are open to facilities and organisations throughout Norfolk and are not only limited to care homes. This fact, together with the universal  acceptance that activities for residents has more and more become an integral component of care delivery in todays’ homes, makes this award all the more noteworthy.

I am sure you all join me in congratulating Denice, Terri and all at Holmwood House who contributed to this fantastic achievement.

Above all, a very special thank you and congratulations to Angela Rankin, the home’s Activities Co-ordinator and the person judged and evaluated and who accepted the award on behalf of the home, for her commitment, energy and enthusiasm which clearly contributed significantly to winning the award in the face of some very strong competition.
