Specialist Services For the Hearing Impaired

Hill Ash House was the first Care Home in the Gloucestershire area to provide specific services, tailored to meet the needs of residents with a hearing impairment.

Our overall aim is to empower and increase the independence of every resident at the home, which is why we have a staff team that has completed a British Sign Language course and is able to sign and communicate fluently with our hearing impaired residents.

As well as providing personal care where required, we also offer activities within the home that are adapted to enable deaf residents to join in.  These include flash bingo, musical instrument “feeling vibrations” sessions, card games and regular visits to the Gloucestershire Deaf Association lunch club in Barnwood, Gloucester.

We also assist residents with specific needs to gain equal access to information, advice and services by signposting to appropriate departments and services.
